Intermezzo
A collection of the research about the topic Intermezzo combined with performance and graphical elements.
Intermezzo is an open word. A word that has a very wide reach and can be practically applied to almost anything. For me, this word connects to the aspect of performance, dance and the graphic elements that you can make from that. For this project I did several experiments on how I can notate dance and movement in a graphical way. For this I composed and made a choreography and taught it to Juliette Hendrickx, a dancer I used to dance with. This choreography is made up of various intermezzos, these are intermediate pieces of own improvisational dance pieces, which are then put together. The choreo was therefore a combination of sound, movement and the reproduction of these movements. The end result is a large canvas where I continued to follow the different lines of movement of the choreography. This created a large painting-like result where you could see which movements the dancer made by following the lines.
